Six men killed by explosion.

ANOTHER VESSEL'S NARROW ESCAPE.

(Beceived 10.5 a.m.) L»TDON, March 1«. The German aubmarine U29 sank the French steamer Auguste Conseil off Start Point. The crew was saved.

The French steamer Campinas just escaped being torpedoed off Cherbourg by taking refuge behind a neutral ship. Torpedo boats chased the submarine, but she escaped. L'29's attack on the Indian City was witnessed ashore. A submarine chased the Headlands and soon overtook and torpedoed her after her crew had quitted her.

The submersible afterwards pursued the Andalusian until out of sight of land.

The Swedish steamer Hanna was sunk off Scarborough and six out of the crew of 20 were killed, apparently by the explosion.

An officer states that he saw a torpedo, though the submarine was not visible. The vessel's name and nationality were painted in big letters from the rail to the waterliue.
