MINISTERS DENY BRIBERY.
I N.S.W. WHEAT LEGISLATION. LEGAL MAN'S 810 FEE. SYDNEY, March 12. At to-day'e sitting of the Royal Commission of Inquiry into the charges of corruption in connection with the Wheat Acquisition Act, Mr. Drew, solicitor, stated that when Mutton said that the i other fanners in the district migh wish |to retain hie services he named a minimum [cc of £2000. Ilia whole aim was to settle the matter constitutionally, and in no way to bribe members. At no time had any promise of money been made to members of Parliament. If i Mutton indicated such a thing witness I was no party to the scheme. Mr. Hohnan stated that he had not j been approached with suggestions of I bribery, eithei- directly or indirectly. M(¥srs. Hall and Ash ford also made a similar denial. | The inquiry lias been adjourned sine die.
