PRESIDENT WILSON OPTIMISTIC. "YOU KEPT TOUR HEADS." President Wilson delivered at Indian- 1 apolls an interesting speech on the United : States' position in regard to the war, in ; the course of which he remarked charac- I teristically:—"The time may come when i the American people will be called upon to : judge whether I know what I am talking about." The speech generally is regarded . as something in the nature of a bid for reelection, i "What a future it is." said the President. "Look abroad upon the troubled I world. Only America is at peace among I all the great Powers of the world. Only America is saving her power for her own people. Only America Is using her great I character, her great strength, and her great interest for peace and prosperity. : IDo you not think it likely that the wotli I will at some time turn to America and say, 'You were right and we were wrong. You kept your heads, we lost ours. Now iv I your self-possession, coolness and strength .may.we not turn to yon for counsel and assistance?' May we not look forward to I the time when we shall be called blessed among the nations and the servants ot manI kind?"
