A Water Supply.—A"letter- was. read from a Mr, :Knlght, a resident of Albany, stating that his attention had been called to the reported shortage of water at Takapuna, and offering to show the Council a supply,, which would .probably meet the requirements of the borough. The Mayor and other members observed that the spring in .question, was reputed to be a good supply, and the matter was referred to .the Water Committee. Inducing Settlement.—ln accordance with (notice of .motion, the Mayor moved: "That the Council are prepared to lay water mains in' such streets as. the Council think desirable, on . ratepayers advancing to and depositing with the. Council the cost of the pipes and connections, and of the laying of the same to the satisfaction of the inspector. On the Council raising -a loan for waterworks extension., the Council will refund to the ratepayers the amounts so .advanced~by them, but wrth"in'terest,""aad the-proposals for such loan- shall -Indicate what pact of the. loan-Is td.be expended In •this way; al lsuch extensions must be approved by the Council." .
