It is understood that Messrs Holman and Canhichael differed on the question whether Mr Hall (the Attorney-General): was entitled to higher Cabinet rank than Mr Carmichael the latter-contending that. in the eventof the absence" of Mr Holman Mr J. H. McCahn (the Treasurer) would be entitled, owing to his length of service,, "to 'be Acting-Premier. Mr' Holman de-. clined to alter the order of Ministerial precedence already fixed. The caucus adjourned to enable Messrs Holman and Carmichael to adjust their' difference and -allowed—Mr Carmichael to re-enter the Ministry, but the consultation was not a. success. Mr Holman stated generally that he thought Mr Carmichael did wrong *in precipitating a crisis. Mr Carmichael rejected his entreaties to reconsider the position ~. ..
