MR MASSEY ENTERTAINED.
DIFFICULTIES OF OFFICE. *

On the occasion ai his .visit to his own electorate the Prime Minister (Bight Hon. W: Maasey) wae tendered a complimentary dinner to-night by the Waiufcu branch of the Reform League. Mr. A. M. Bamball. presided, and in proposing the toast of "The Member for Franklin," said that no electorate wae more proud of its-member. HealeoTfe-ma-rk-ed- that the welcome was intended more for Mr. Maeeey personally than for him in his capacity ac Prime Minister. The toast was received with musical honoum-and-cheere. , -

Mr.-Maeeey, in reply,,said tb'at-he had had a strenuous time since entering office, hut he would rather have an hour of energetic action than a year of. stagnation. (Applause.) The.speaker outliired .the difficulties which had been enconntered with Tespect to supplies of wheat, to the export of. produce, and to the provision of sufficient >3hjps. At the Conclusion of hie speech Mr..Ma6sey wae warmly applauded. .
