RATING ON UNIMPROVED VALUES.

The Onehunera ratepayers have decided that in future the" borough shall &c rated on the unimproved value, and lot, as heretofore, on the capital or an"nal value. This decision was arrived *t yesterday, when a poll was taken for tte purpose. The proposal to change the *Jstem o f taxation was carried by a Majority of 172 votes. The poll closed ** 7 o'clock, and shortly afterwards Mr. s . J. Brookfield. returning officer, anSottneed the result as follows: —For the Proposal 563. against 391. informal 6. Messrs. A. A. Creamer and R. TMllicar ■wessed the large crowd awaiting the J-ralt, and they were both cheered for •"ft victory they had been chiefly instru/•aital in obtaining.
