When they settled down Springbok was well up with the leaders, and Singlet, breaking badly, lost her position. Springbok increased hfe advantage as they negotiated the circuit a second time, and was six lengths in front'of Special' Bloom as they crossed the top, the latter having a similar advantage on the rest of the field. Special Bloom 'broke badly at the tnrn. however, and lost his position to iMiss Huon Junior. He came again in the straight, and looked like gaining second honours, but another bad break at the lawn rails was for his finishing, out of a position. Going along the back, Belgian Queen broke, and Huon Patch ran up on terms with George X.. but. in trying to get through on the rails, got badly pocketted. Lady S. maintained her advantage into the straight, and drew out over the concluding stages, winning by two lengths. A magnificent struggle all the way down the straight ensued for second place between George K. anil Huon Patch, the former, on the rails, lasting long enough to get second honour* by a third of a length.
