FRANKLIN SHOW.

■■» - I I AN UNQUALIFIED SUCCESS, OPINIONS OF THE JUDGES. The Franklin show, which opened at 'ukekohe yesterday; and wae continued o-day, under the auspices of the Frankin Agricultural Society, was an indica.ion of no uncertain kind, of the process that the dietriet has made in. re:cnt years. 'It was the general opinion tmongst the judges that the beasts exlibitod compared favourably with anybing previ-ouelv entered in country ihowß, not only in the Auckland Prorinee. but probably throughout the Doninion. As was to be expected of a district ivhose farmers have a preference Jor 'Holiteins, the exhibits in thi s breed wefe jarticularly strong: in fact, it was ,'laimed that the collection was the Wet ret exhibited in the North Island. The ■eal features of the show, however, were n the 'horse classes. The judgeg claimed that the light horses were fit to compete inywhere. while the draughts were of such n- splendid etrarn that the judge regretted that there were no Southern competitors to give the display a worthy advertisement. Shorthorns were not entered in great numbers, but they made up for this deficiency by the excellence of their class. Jerseys, too. were strong both in quality and quantity. The opinion was more "than once- expressed by a judge that there were young, beasts amongst the exhibits that would certainly DC heard of at future shows. There were big and promising entries in sheep, pigs, dogs, and poultry, all of which clasees were judged to-day. The prizes awarded in addition io those published in yesterday's "Star," were as follows: HORSES. 'Hacks and Hunters.-;Ftny or gelding. I.vr: H. rinrk. Jun.. 1. H. Deauley 2 S J. Murrn.r :i.
