(By Te!e=Tsn"n— Press Association.l j I HAMTLTONT. this day. j Conn: Rene de Montalgu. who was I adjudged a bankrupt in November last at Rororua. was committed for trial at Hamilton to-day for breaches of the Bankruptcy Act. The Official Assignee. 3lr. Fisher, said defendant was adjudicated on his own petition. A schedule of the estate showed liabilities £82.5. and assets £13.?0. leaving a nominal surplus of £524. Claims proved amounted to £1495. while tho assets so far realised £108. Those unsold would bring, at the outside. £300. and there wa.« no <-liance whatever of the assets realising 20/ in the £. He thought that the estate would pay .">/ at the outFide. Defendant's income when he arrived in February last year was £(5S a month, but from August onward this was reduced to £40. From tlie time of hi- arrival till his bankruptcy defendant had been living at the rate of £200 a month. Bankrupt's father had refused to pay his debts. Witness was of opinion that when the debts vrpre incurred in July bankrupt had no reasonajrle expectation of paying.
