Photographic & Literary Competitions for 1915 ••■ - in _____■_____ 1 -i ■ With a view to obtaining the most attractive matter possible for Next Year's Issue, and at the same time encouraging Literary and Artistic ability, the Proprietors of Brett's Christmas Annual have resolved to offer a number of valuable Prizes for the best Photographs, Tales and Sketches sent in by Competitors, as under :— Photographic Competitions. Animal Lift, wild or domestlcaUd (with tor without Human Flguras) Ist Prlza. £4; 2nd Prlia. £2; 3rd Prlla, £1. RULES AND CONDITIONS. All the Competitions are Open to Professionals and Amateurs alike. There ia no entrance fee. Competitors must only submit their own boua-ftde work, which has not been, previously published or enter**, for any other competition. Photographs of any size or style may be entered; but Half-plates or Full-plates, printed an ordinary P.O.P. paper, are preferred. These should, if possible, be sent in flat and unmounted, and must have tbe name and* address of the Competitor and the Number of Competition, written in pencil on the back of each print. Address, "Photographic CompetitioDa," krstt't Christmas Annual, Auckland. The Competitions will close on 20th March, 1916, and the results will be announced aa soots thereafter as possible. The Proprietors of Brett's Christmas Annua! will be entitled to use any of the Photograph! sent in, not awarded a prize, on payment to tbe Competitor of a sum of 5/- per print. All prints will be returned if not accepted. The decision of the Editor of Brett's Christmas Annual shall be final. The sending in of Print* by a Competitor shall be equivalent to an undertaking that Mid Competitor ia t-illinf to abide by these conditions. Literary Competitions. RULES AND CONDITIONS. Stories may be either Tragic, Comic, Domestic or Romantic. The essential points are— They must be original, not previously published or entered in any other competition, and they must relate to life in New Zealand. Sketches of Travel and Holiday Adventure in New Zealand may be either Descriptive or narrative, or both combined, and may be Serious or Humorous. They must be original, and stot previously published or entered in any other competition. Stories and Sketches must be sent in, addressed to "Literary Competition, Brett's Christmaa Annual, Auckland," not later than the 20th March, 1915. "The results of the Competitions will be announced as soon thereafter as possible. The Copyright of all Stories so purchased, as well aa of the Prise Stories, shall Teat ia the proprietors of Brett's Christmas Annual. The Proprietors of Brett's Christmas Annual shall be entitled to publish any of the Stories or Sketches sent in, on paying for the same at the rate of £1 per story or sketch. All MSS. not accepted will be returned. All Competitive Tales or Sketches must be plainly written or typed, on one side of tbe paper only, and must be accompanied by the full name and address of the author. The decision of the Editor of Brett's Christmas Annual shall in every case be final. By the mere act of sending .in Talcs or Sketches addressed to the Competitions Editors Competitors will be understood to have agreed to the foregoing conditions. Remember!
