ENTHUSIASM AT NAPIER.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NAPIER, this day. There were enthusiastic displays oi patriotism on the Marine Parade tonight, when between 2000 and 3000 people a=ecmblcd in the vicinity of the band rotunda. Mayor J. Vigor Brown, M.P., -waa to have delivered an address, but wae prevented from doing co by illness. He sent a message, expressing the hope that the British flag would still keep floating. Patriotic airs, including "The Red. White and Blue," "Rule Britannia." "Boys of the Old Brigade," the National Anthem, and the "Marecllaisc," were played by the Regimental and City BanJs. The crowd joined lustily iii the singing of "God Save the King,' , and outbursts of cheers were frequent throughout the evening. It was close on ten o'clock before the people 'began to disperse.
