A big sale of Queen Street property has just been negotiated, the propertyknown as the British Buildings, including the British Hotel, and shops and offices, on the corner of Queen Street nnd Durham Street, lraving changed hands for X 38,000. The vendors were the Northern Brewery L'o., and the purchaser was Mr Maurice Casey, the s«le beinjr negotiated by Messre. Mowbray and Gorrie. The property has a frontage of 01ft. to Queen Street and 78ft. to Dunham Street. On the site stands a brick 'building, three storeys high. Uflaving -made allowance for the value of the buildings, and of the British Hotel, a* an hotel property, the parties to the sale a-TCcd on the value of the site as representing £500 per foot. The terms of sale, it if understood, provide for the .Northern Brewery Company retaining a leaso of the hotel.
