AMENDING ARBITRATION ACT TO MEET CIRCUMSTANCES. NAVAL RESERVE CALLED OUT. (Received 9.20 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. The Executive of the Political Labour League has agreed to the withdrawal of the candidate for Parratnatta in order to do away with the necessity for an election at the present juncture. Mr. W. Hughes suggests a speedy constitution of Parliament without awaiting the elections by the withdrawing of all candidates opposing the sitting members, or else that Parliament be resuscitated by the withdrawal of the proclamation of dissolution. He points out that this latter course could be ewbeequently ratified 'by the passi.ig of a short Act.

Speaking in the Assembly. Mr. "W. A. 'Hoiman, Prime Minister, said that owing to the war crisis the Government did not propose to proceed with anything contentious in its programme, and would deal only with business arising out of a state of war, and necessary for securing the public 6afety and Well-being. In conjunction with the Leader of the Opposition, the Government intended to discuss a bill to secure amendment oi industrial awards under circumstances which -night arise. He would ask tlie co-operation of all parts of the House. CVIr. G. C. Wade pledged the loyal support of the Opposition in making the Government's way smooth.
