NEWS IN THE SOUTH.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.; WELLINGTON, this day. Large crowds of people paraded tho streets to-night, headed J>y a band, the demonstration evoking great enthusiasm. BLENHEIM, this day. The declaration of War aroused a fever of .patriotism here- Flagd* were flo\vn, and large crowds cheered, patriot tic songs were sung, and a hand paraded in the Square in the evening, playing patriotic tunes. OHRISTOHUBCH, this day. There were further patriotic demonstrations in the city to-night. Large ntnnibers of Territorials and others are enrolling for service in the expeditionary force. DUNEDIN, this day. During the progress of 'the Ctiy Council meeting to-night a crowd of* oVer a thousand congregated outside the City Hall, accompanied by the Salvation Army Band, sang the National Anthem. "Rule Britannia"' and *SThe Marsillaiie." A portion of the crowd mounted the stains, interrupted the meeting, and requested the Mayor to address the gathering, which request -was aeccdea to. and the meeting adjourned for ten minute?. It -was a scene of great enthusiasm.
