Electricity .-Supply.—The city electrical engineer wrote expressing regret that no word hail yet been received of the cables entered fur the supply of current In- Newmarket. Some .of the material had arrived, and the cables should not be long in coming to hand. An effort would be made to make a quick job of the lnslaHatlpu when they arrived. Koad Roller. —In view of a special report on the Council's roller, it was decided to order a pair of new road wheels, and to make a claim against the makers for a refund in respect of one which was considered! to be a faulty easting. Park ilload Brldge."-The Mayor voiced a complaint against the action of the Hallway Department in laying down heavy tarred macadam on part of the Park Road Bridge, and subsequently tearing it up In order to substitute ordinary macadam, which had proved quite unsatisfactory. BENEDICT'S "AT HOME." The parishioners at St. Benedict's gave their first annual "At Home"' In St. Benedict's Hall last evening. The guests, numbering -about 4SO, were received by Hey. Father Forde end representative committee of Indies. The hall presented v charmingly picturesque appearance, having been cxqiiLsitlvely arranged by the ladles of the Decorative Committee under the direction of Mr. George Court, who kindly siipplled the occasional suite for the appointment of the main hull and receiving moms. An extremely pleasant and enjoyable evening..was spent,, nnd. keen ap-preciation-of the excellent programme was shown. It is anticipated that over £301) will he realised, which is to be devoted to the church building fund.
