amwm m ■ '-.■■■ CHAMBER OF COMMERCE PROPOSALS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent) HAMILTON, this day. The Hamilton Chamber of Commerce is endeavouring to arrange a boat service, two trips yearly for the conveyance of kerosene, benzine, and explosives from Auckland, via Onehunga, and the Waikato. Ijetters were read last Bight from the Northern S.S. Co. and C. C. Davis, trader and carrier, and it wi* rcisolved to ask Air. Davis to give particulars of freight direct on these goods, and alternatively to give some partiftilars of freight to Mercer by rail »Bd f,iiward by river. It was decided also to write to/Mr, Bollard, M.P., asking him to approJch the Marine Department witih a rSqneit - to fix the beacon 'lights at the Waikato Heads, and to complete the wharves. The same meeting decided to ask tke Premier to extend the order of reference of the Waikato Inland Waterway! Commission to report on the feasibility of lowering Dbe lower region of the Waikato River to drain the land on tbe east side. It was declared that land ■ was capable of profitable occupation., and very little loitering iwa* re-qprittA. ' The Chamber also decided to ask the Government to alter the constitution of the Assessment Court, giving pri*»te property owners representatives, as WM promised before the Government reached office.
