A I'nst-offender'who was very strongly of opinion that he wasnt drunk when lie was arrested, as he had had only four drinks, had tlie evitftmce of two constables against him as to the effect of the drinks on him. and he was prohibited and discharged. Two other first offenders were fined 5/ each. A young man. 22 years of aire, named Thomas Brosnalian. was arrested yesterday evening by Detective Scott oil a-' charge that on .Tune 23 he broke and entered the premises of the Central Billiard Rooms, in High Street, and stole two sets of bonzoiine billiard bails. 300 cigars, 55 packets of cigarettes, three tins of Havelock tobacco, a pocket book, a handbag, and 12/6 in cash (total value £43). tbe property of James Chalmers. Keyes was fined 5/ and 7/ ccs'.s for permitting a horse to wander at large, at Birkenhead.
