At the main level the stopes going south of No. 1 rise show no improvement. The hangjngwall and footwall portlous are coming together, leaving airout of sandstone between the quartz, measuring almit sft wide. In which strong colours of gold ran be freely seen. The reef on the south side of No. 0 rise measures lift wide. The Middle Parallel reef In the stopes moarares 3ft to loft wide, and occasionally shows gold freely. Waiotahi.— The shaft should be completed to the .1000 ft level by the end of this week. Until this w done Mr. Waruc considers it would be undesirable to disturb tbe present air currents by attempting .to clear debris from the crosscut at 1000 ft. New -Sylvia.—-At No. .", level tliree *topes arc producing fair grade ore. At the Intermediate level throe slopes are -being worked. The ore is well mineralised. Two stopct* In No. 4 level are also producing fairly mineralised ore. lv No. 5 level the reef Is wider than the drive. The new reef (which has been named tin- Norfolk! Is very hard, hut carries nice minerals. Oi-cidental.—in the lop stope on No. 2 reef cxirse colours of gold were seen during the week. Waitangi.—ln Hie western section of So. .1 level, west of No. 1 rise, the reef in the slopes Is st ill looking well. About Oft of the hanglugwall portion of the reef has been broken down. Two samples from Ihe yestern face assayed as follows?—Hangingwall £S 0 7 per ion. and footwall £1 O/rt. At No. a level a sample from the face assayed £2 11 i per ton. In No. :{ crosscut a general sample assayed £4 4/5 per ton.
