CYCLING.

An event which should give a great fillip to cycling throughout, the Commonwealth and New Zealand has 'been suggested by the Dunlop Rubber Company. which has already done so much for the sport in this country, ft will be an innovation. It is proposed that a team of six riders from each of -the six Commonwealth States and New Zealand shall annually compete in a scratch race of 100 miles or over, the event to be a teams' championship race, decided on points: the team scoring highest points to be the winners, whilst the Australasian road championship for the year, in addition to the valuable prize and" trophy would go to the first man home. To select the respective teams it is suggested that a test race, with ite own separate prize list, be held annually in each State, and in New Zealand, such event to be a handicap of 100 miles or over. the. riders, recording toe six fastest times to be selected to represent their State. Six or seven teams would then compete in too grand final—the 'Australasian read championship— such event to be held in rotation in the various States and the Dominion.
