PUBLIC SERVICE ASSOCIATION

The Auckland branch of the Public bervice Association met this week at tho Government Buildings, representatives of the various departments being present as follow: —Messrs. T. P. Gi'.fodder (chairmaui. T. Culpau (vice-chairman!, S. Dalrymplc (Machinery Department), J. l'lndlay (Government Insurance., F. W. Gray (Agricultural), E. Twohill (Public Works), 11. C. Airey and Capiain F. A. Field (Crown I.andsl. W. J. Cook (Prisons), V. Sutton (Labouri, T. Carroll (Mental Hospitals), W. Smith (Public Trust), F. .1. Stewart (Justice), and _G. S. Uowe (assistant secretary). Mr. J. J. Furlong (Customs) resigned his scat on the committee owing to transfer to InvercajgilL

A resolution was passed complimenting the public servant-; at Rotorua on the formation of a new section.

-Mr. E. Twohill was elected the association's delegate at the conference of the Appeal Board, fixed to meet in Wellington on the 7th of July. It was decided to try and get special concessions for members of the association when travelling, especially in respect to charges at. heels and boa-d----in gho___s.

Mr. A, .T. Hill having left the service, his resignation was accepted, and Mr. G. s. Rowe was elected hon. secretary. Mr. J. D Stack assistant secretary, and Mr V. Sutton treasurer.

It was resolved to urge the Commissioners to recognise and give credit for partial .p___, e___ninatio___obtained under toe former regulations, and also to classify draughtsmen in the professional division, instead of the clerical. This will he a remit for the conference.
