I anal Company yesterday the president reported that the prospects were good. Tbe competition from tiie Panama Canal would have only a slight effect, and the new waterway would probably prove supplementary rather than competitive. None the less, it would be necessary to reduce the (Suez traffic charges to the same riirure as by the Panama route, and to undertake works to enable ships of larger tonnage to uso the Suez CanaL
