"SAVED FROM HERSELF."
A STEPDAUGHTER'S LAPSE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Chief Justice gave judgment today in the case of Dell v. Dell, in which the mother of Alice Lee applied for a writ of habeus corpus to obtain custody of the girl, aged 17, who, it was alleged, was living in improper relationship with her stppfather. Counsel for the girl contended that, as she was over 16, she could go where she liked and do what she liked. His Honor said the Court would not be doing its duty were it not to interfere to save the girl against herself and against the most disgraceful conduct of her stepfather. An order was made for the girl to go into the Salvation Army Home in the meantime.
