LOANS AND SINKING FUNDS.
BETTER PROVISION WANTED. COLONIAL STOCKS IN FAVOTTR. LOXDOX. .April f>. The "Times" says that ttio sinking fund of the Queensland £2.000,000 loan, like that of several recent colonial issues. is inadequate to provide for its redemption at matirrity. For their own sakes as well as in the stockholders' interests it wnuld be well for the colonial governments to regulate their loan operations on sound conservative lines. Their stocks enjny a more favourable market than almost any other class of securities. It would be to their advantage to prove themselves worthy of that exceptional favour.
