FIRE FIGHTERS' COMPETITION

UTTERESTING CONTESTS. TWO DOMINION RECORDS. " GREY LYNN WINS SHIELD. Further competitions in the Auckland Exhibition Fire Brigades Demonstration were held on Saturday last at the Domain. Two New Zealand records were put up during the afternoon. In the rescue event for two men, Onehunga knocked a couple of fifths off the hitherto best by doing, it in 214-ss. There was exceptionally keen competition in tjhe ladder race for one man, several of the competitors getting inside the Tecord of 7 2-56., their time being 7 dead. There was a double dead heat between Newmarket and Wai hi for first place, the victory going to the representative goldmining township after the second run off. LADDER RACE FOR ONE MAN. Thie was a very interesting event, and the first run oIT rc&uited in several tice. Waihi and Newmarket tied for first place with 7 1-Os, and Te Aroha and Hawera tied for second place with 7 2-5, and Onehunga, Whangarei, and Mount Eden for third place with 7 3-se.
