PANAMA CANAL TOLLS.

PROSPECTS OF REPEAL. (Received 11.50 a.m.) WASHINGTON, February 8. Representative Adamson (chairman of the Foreign Commerce Committee) asserts that the free tolls provision was inserted in the democratic platform without the knowledge of the majority of the Resolutions Committee. In consequence of this discovery the way is now clear for a congressional debate upon repealing the measure. The subsidy was not a cardinal plank in the democratic platform, therefore there is not likely to be any real resistance to the President's programme.
