PIRACY IN PERSIAN GULF.
TWO STEAUSBS LOOTED. COWARDLY CREWS. (Times-Sydney Sun Special Cable.) BOMBAY, February 7. Two vessels from India anchored close to the shore at Basra, in the Persian Gulf, were attacked a day ago by pirates. The crews got into a state of panic, and hurriedly escaped in the small boats, leaving the skippers to fight alone. The latter weru armed with rifles, and gallantly defended their vessels until one had been shot dead and the other badly wounded. The pirates then looted the vessels and disappeared into the desert.
