A HOLIDAY FOR THE BAND.
(To the Editor.) Sir,—l think we β-re all: agreed that the Royal Artillery Band' has not only afforded a. musical feast to Aucklandem but ihae also been one of the chief attractions at the Exhibition. Th«e in«in give twelve performances each week, and 1 expect have a. few practices as well. Tbje imea>ns close and attentive work. Now, I always Mke to take thinge in good time, and, therefore, I ■would'like to. make a. euggsetion now. and not later on and Bearing 4he termination of the engagement of the foandt I think ■Wβ would indeed be lacking in true hospitality if we allowed these men, who are •in a sense our giieete, to leave our shores without upending at least a few days at Rotorua. I feel cure that thousands of your readers -would approve of a plan to give them euch a trip, and which would be a fitting conclusion, to th£ir stay amongst oi6. If the matter was brought under the notice of the Minister Tot Rairwaye I fefel sure he would rise to the occaeicn, and provide the nccMeary travelling free. Aβ to the defraying of the men's board, a plan for that matter could also be easily arranged. Now. I want it fully understood that .nothing ie 'further from my mind than anything of tfche- nature of a band concert at Rotonia to defray expenses. In feet., it is the very opposite. I want to see the men have a few days clear of their inetrirme.hto and unifonne, and out untrammelled for a Teal good time. I trust that this suggestion will end in the passing of a grateful compliment to those who have brought so much pleasure into our livee during the few weeks they were domiciled in our eifcy.—l am, etc., Q.
