Victoria Cruising Cltib >-held, its second "series of harbour races on Saturday afternoon. /Thirty-two boats started, and all .finished except Mowai, which carried away her float halliards. BOWING. CL-HB RACES ON SATURDAY. WAITEMATA.TRIAL FOURS. Members of the Waitemata Boating Club held a. most enjoyable eeries of trial races from the boathouse on Saturday afternoon. The tide was full out, but the conditions were admirable for stylish rowing, the circumstances showing the excellent site which the club, has secured for its new boathouse. Mr. Orpwoqd, of <the-Whangarei Club, was present throughout the afternoon, and acted as judge of the various heats, the finishing post being off the eastern balcony, which is -such, a ■ pleasant .feature of the new building. At the conclusion, Mr Orpwood was given three hearty cheere, in a manner that showed the cordial relations existing between the Waitemata and the Whangarei oarsmen. Of the races, one exciting contest was that between crews stroked by those old crew mates Herring and Parkinson, the latter winning by a quarter of a length after, a hard-fought race. Another keen tussle was seen in the final between Parkinson's crew and Hadfleld's .four; the champion sculler getting in with three feet-to the good after, a-etern chase which, showed his stubborn qualities. Following are the results:— First Heat.—H.adfleld, Ellis, White, kin (Gallagher cox), 1; Bell, Sanft, Moore, Taylor (Madden cox), 2. Won by three lengths. ■■'-.. - •Second Heat—Campbell, Molesworth.
