ADVICE TO CANADA. THE NEED IS IMPERATIVE. .(Received 8.25 a-m.) OTTAWA, January 18. Mr. Thomas Tait, formerly of the Victoria State railways, addressing the Canadian Crab, advocated Canada taking immediate action to strengthen the Empire's naval forces. He said she had much to lose and nothing to gain by the dismemberment of the Empire. It was the duty of all parts of the Empire to place it in an impregnable position as quickly as possible. Each Dominion ought to act with promptness, as the need was imperative. LIBERALS WANT REDUCTION. LONDON, January 17. A resolution urging a reduction in armaments was passed last night at a meeting attended hy Sir John Brunncr (Liberal ALP. for Cheshire Northwich division). Sir Walter Rnnciman (President of the Board of Agriculture), Mr N. J. A. Primrose (Liberal M.P. for Cambridgeshire North), Mr D. M. Mason i (Liberal M-P. for Coventry), and Mr .Thomas Lough (Liberal M.P. for Isling!ton West). The meeting was characterised by upToaxions scenes, several Stock Exchange members denouncing the "little navy" party.
