ALBANIAN THRONE.
HEPOHTS OF FIGHTING. ESSAD PASHA ACTIVE. (By Cable.—Press Association.— (Received 11 ajn.) ATHENS, January lb'. Telegrams received here state that there have been sanguinary combats in Albania between tbe partisans of Essad Pasha and the provincial government. Essad's troops have occupied several districts. VIENNA. January 10. It is said that Kemal Boy and Ismaal Pasha resigned owing-to the discovery of papers showing that they corresponded with lzzet Pasha, the late War Minister, though Ismaal pleads that he carried on the negotiations in order to stultify lzzet Pasha's attempts to seize the Albanian throne. Austria and Ttaly had.'.previously paid Ismaal considerable sums, hoping for his support against Essad Pasha. Essad Pasha is the Albanian chief who defended Scutari against the Montenegrin forces, and was subsequently chosen by the Albanians as their ruler. This did not. however, suit the purposes of the Powcts. and it was understood that Essad had given up his claims to tbe throne which was offered to Prince William of Wied.
