The Honso of Representatives passed the bill providing for the transfer of Norfolk Island to the Commonwealtli. including a ciajise prohibiting the manufacture, importation, or sale of alcoholic liquor?, also an amo.ndm<-nt in favour of taking a local option poll of residents. Mr Glynn asked the committee to negative the amended clause. At present the only sale of liqoor on tho inland was for medicinal pnrpo>es. and was in the hand? of the Tnis?ion ;iii(i innjrist.ratrs. It* the amended clause were carried it mijrht upset thft pea-ec and harmony of the iniabita.nL , The amended clause was reje,ij-d. and a new clause prohibiting the manufacture of liquor inserted.
