WATERSIDERS SENTENCED.
SIX WEEKS AND THREE MONTHS. (By Telegraph.— Tress Association.) WELLINGTON", this day. Joseph Thomas, a waterside worker picket, who attempted to throw a shipping clerk into the harbour, was sentenced to six weeks' imprisonment. Thomas said he was merely carrying out his duties as a picket. William Lawton, a. watersider (with one previous conviction for breaking ivn.l entering), who took a prominent part in tiic riot in front of Whitcombo and Tombs' on the 30th October, when specials were attacked, was sentenced to three months and remanded to the Supreme Court for sentence for inciietabla offences. The new union of drivers has now a membership of 140. Thn hotele remain closed till Tuesday.
