ONE FOR EVERY 82 PEOPLE. NUMBER TO BE REDUCED. PARIS, November 20. The French Senate has passed a bill limiting the number of public houses. Since ls">'*. tlie consumption oi spirits per head has increased four-fold. There is now one public house for every 82 inhabitants, as compared with one to 430 in England. If the bill passes the Chamber, no newpublic houses will be allowed until the number is reduced from 4*0.000 to ISO.OOO.
