The Feilding paper states that Cap? ■tain Barltrop, of the Manchester Rißejj made a record which _ac not been equalled in the Dominion. A small number of riflemen were on the range for a practice shot. Captain Barltrop'i sighter ot 500 yards was a bull's-eye, and the seven successive 6hots were also placed on the disc. Going to the 600yd__ range, he again placed every ball on the bull's-eye, and at the 700 yds range heonce more placed seven bull's-eyes. A score of 105 a. the 500, 600 and 700 yards ranges is unique in New Zealand, though it has been done at 200, 500 and 600 yardis.
