ACTIVITY HT THE CITY. LARGE PATROL PARTIES. One btindred mounted specials ware allowed to return to their homes this morning, bat before they left more than that number had arrived to replace them. The Farmers' Union Executive report that a. surprising number of offers are being received from day to day from othej fanners willing to come to Auckland. The city special constables eontimiß their routine work without special incident. The 300 at Queen's wharf, besides keeping suard, rloin-r fatigue duty, eta, sometimes send parties of fifty or sixty into the suburbs in response to any reports concerning the obtrusiveness of strike pickets. A large body marched past the Trades Hall yesterday afternoon shortly before a brush occurred between mounted specials and pedestrians, which is referred to elsewhere. But the specials passed right on to Newton. Two hundred specials have been transferred from the Drill Hall to the King's wharf, there to be quartered, and to guard the approaches to the -wharf while vessels are working there. The balance are still encamped at the Drill HaTL, and each evening they send out parties by motor car to guard various buildings until morning.
