STRIKE COMMITTEE BEADY. In connection with the negotiations that were in progress up till yesterday with a view to the settlement of the present industrial trouble in Auckland, it has been stated on behalf of the Strike Committee that the proposal* submitted to them were such as could not be entertained for one moment. The committee states that it lias always been open to negotiate on terms which they considered honourable, and would readily take an opportunity to discuss the whole position in open conference. Such overtures as have been made, however, have been of a, nature that simply could not be entertained by reasonable men.
