Shortland Street. I adjoining the offices of the Auckland j "Star," to be used as new bank premises. Considerable alterations will, no doubt, 'be necessary to adapt these premises for the Bank's use, and in the meanwhile business will be continued, as heretofore, at tie corner of Queen and Wyndham Streets. We 1 understand, a= a result of inquiries, that the whole of this large and very valuable block will not be required for the business of the bank, but that one portion will continue to fee used as offices. J The business of the National Bank his frown to such an extent that the present premises are quite inadequate for the u':-e of the staff and public. When thp contemplated alterations have been made to the building now acquired the institution will 'be in possession of one of the finest banking chambers in the city. The central situation of the site will also prove a great convenience to its customer?. We congratulate the bank upon itts enterprise in securing such a an iq up property. The purchase marks another in the improvement or Auckland mercantile buildings.
