A KENTUCKY FIRE-EATER.
Unsuccessful efforts have l>cen made at Washington to settle the quarrel between Representative Thomas, of Kentncky. and 11. A. Goodlet, assistant doorkeeper at the Hoase of Representatires, who squabbled about politics on August G, and finally foiigTit. The doorkeeper said he did uot objert to a fair stand-up fight with anybody bnt he complains that Mr. Thomas broke all the rules, and finally stabbed him at a Washington hotel, where the two men met accidentally. Those who saw the affair hurried to the doorkeeper" s rescue, and disarmed the Kentuckian, who fought furiously. Goodlefs wounds ate not serioas. He has two black eyes.
Representative Thomas is n notorious fire-eater. Daring the hearings in the impeachment proceedings against Judge Archbold, of the Commerce Court, about one year ago. Representative Thomas questioned tho correctness of the report in a local paper, called tbe correspondent a liar and proceeded to choke him. Another correspondent threw Thomas to the floor of the corri-

Thomas broke away from a House policeman, who resened him troni the newspaper nice, ana chased the latter down the corridors, threatening to disembowel them. His fellow • Kentucky Representatives finally calmed him.
