COX'S CREEK.

PROPOSED BOAT HARBOUR. SUPPORTED BY BOARD. At the meeting of the Harbour Board to-day, the chairman (Mr. J. H. Giuison) reported that :i deputation, consisting of the Mayor and several councillors of Grey Lynn had waited upon him on Friday last with reference to the. Board's objection to their application to the Marine Department to reserve Cox's Creek as a boat harbour. He at once arranged to visit the site in company with the deputation.

"When the matter was previously considered," , said the chairman, "the Board was guided by the reconunendation of the harbourmaster, who quite justifiably reported that the reservation of the whole of this inlet would interfere with navigation. At that time tho Board had nothing before it from the. Grey Lynn Borough Council, which body has since represented its interests at that point, it now being clear that the whole of the tidal area within the bridge, viz., the inner basin, is vested in the Grey Lynn Borough Council hv their 1909 Act."

Mr. (.iunson expressed the opinion that any riparian right, if there be such, wns a matter for the Grey Lynn Borough Council to deal with. "On Monday last, in company with the Mayor of Grey f>ynn," he "added. "I further visited the site from the shore side. In view of the conditions as now understood, I consider that the proposal for the outer urea I" be utilised and reserved for n boat harbour is one which should receive the support of the Board. The Mayor of Grey Lynn has advised mc that the (irey Lynn Roronsh Council now desires to make application to the Marine Department that the fee simple of the area be vested in them by the Covenimcnt. The area is, on account of its sheltered position, well suited an a place for a boat harbour, and there are n number of launch and boat owners resident in the district \\ ho would be greatly benefited by such provision." The chairman, in conclusion, said that the rights of the Board could not in iiny Way be prejudiced, either for the present or tho future, by the adoption of the recommendation now submitted. He therefore recommended, "That the Board, having heard the (irey Lynn Borough Council's rase, unrt having dtip rojiard to nil interests, heartily supports the application of tlie (trey Ijynn Boroupb Council to the Marine Department to have the fee-simple and control of the area, as p«r plan, known us Cox's Creek vested in it." The recommendation was adopted.
