Auckland played ou the Basin Reserve this :if terjioon. and the result was a runaway victory fur Wellington by eight goals to three, Jargeiy due to the remarkable goal-keeping of Kershaw for Wellington and to Lhe fact that on the hea-y ground Auckland's light mou had no opportunity of developing the swiftmorhig tactics wliich are such an important factor in the game. In the second- spell Pledger sustained a broken thumb, anil therea-flei* replaced Edwards In the Auckland goal. Stewart played a sterling game for Auckland, ami Woollams was also prominent. Estcourt wns one of the nlost prominent players for Wellington. The game was witnessed by about 200 people.
