MISTAKEN FOR A WELSHER.
POLICEMAN CHASED BIT CROWS, ("Sydney Sun" Special Service.) LONDON, August 1. A plainclothes policeman had nn exciting experience at tho Goodwood races yesterday. He was attempting to arrest some three-card tricksters, when their confederates hustled him and raised tho cry of "Wclsher I" Tho crowd was thoroughly deceived by the ruse, and thinking that the officer was really a sealer went after bim in lull force. For a minute or two the unlucky policeman was subjected to some very rough handling, but he finally mndo his escape by climbing over the railings surrounding the grandstand enclosure.
