A man named William Conag-lian was charged in the Whangarei Court yesterday with having , caused the destruction wilfully of a valuable dog, the property of James W. BuTdett, hotelkeeper. It was stated that the accused took tho dog to a chemist's shop, and, on representing the animal to be Ms own property, induced the chemist to administer a fatal dose of prussic acid. The accused" pleaded guilty to the charge, but he declined to disclose the motive of his action. He was sentenced to a month's imprisonment •without the option of a fine.
