MAINTENANCE CASE.

A CLERGYMAN' SUED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON. Monday. At the Magistrate's Court to-day Alice Woollass, a resident of Te Awamutu, sued her husband, the Rev. Wm. Wooluu-5. for a separation order on the ground that he had failed and intended to fail to provide her with adequate, maintenance, that he had been guilty of persistent cruelty, and was an habitual inebriate. .

Defendant denied the allegations, but consented to an order for maintenance.

The Magistrate said he could not make an order where defendant denied the allegations without hearing the evidence. The case was a most painful one for the. parties concerned, and he suggested an amicable settlement in preference to having the case placed on the records of the Court. The case was then adjourned.
