MOOTT EDEN. ■ The fortnightly meeting of the Mount Eden Borough Coon-oil, held last night, was attended by the Mayor tMr O. >"lrbolson) and Councillors Burns, Woo.ley. Seabrook, Mdkle, Potter. Ilootou. Hudson, and Grayson. A month's leave of absence, on account of fll-health. was granted C'r. Jones. Street Works.—The Streets Committee recommended that water a»4neh service pipes) be supplied to four bouses in Charlton Avenue; that dangerous holes in Sunnyside Koad be repaired forthwith, aud that permanent work on the road l>e proceeded with whes other road works in bar.d and authorised were completed: that the Kiigineer report on complaint of J. W. Banbury re drainage; that the Engineer be instructed to report on the drainage of the new Grammar School siter; that the use of St. Albnn's Hail and others for prrblic meetings, etc.. couM not tie permitted' till the buildings comply with the by-laws. The report was adopted. A Deputation.—A deputation of four residents waited on the Council, and complained that the drainage on the southern aide of Balmoral Road was discharging- on their properties. The Council referred the matter to the Works Commit tee to inspect and report. Complahrts.—Complaints concerning the state of the footpaths in Pine Street, tbe crossing on Penryn Koad. tbe footpath at Peccarrow A-vemie. the coud-ition of road at the corner of Wynyard Koad, and proposal to raise the footpath in Mary Street were referred to -the Works Pouwnittee. Complaints -that water was running ou to properties from the road in DunbnT, Grange, and Rarjtangi Roads ami Shaddock Street jwre referred' to tbe Engineer for report. ■Xonnanby Koad.—ln his report the Engineer stated that he proposed to proceed within a week with the formation of Mary Street, after which the formation oi Kormanby Koad could be undertaken Immediately. The Council approved the proposal. Miscellaneous.—Tie Council decided tt put a street lamp at the corner of Bell■wood and Cricket Avenues. It was- decided to consider the question of putting a public convenience on the tire ln-ignde station lv lit. Eden Road when the station is removed within the next three weeks. Repairs to Footpaths.—A number o applications were made for repairs to foot paths iv various streets. The Mayor sail the trouble was that building was gettini ahead of road formation. He added that 1 people would put up bouses on section: where the roads were in course of forma tion they must be prepared to put up with the conseauenees, for the roads could not be finished till tbe weather took up. Williamson Avenue.—Mr Carr suggested that no more metal should be laid in Williamson Avenue from Reaconsfield Street for a little time, until tbe Oiling in had settled. It was unwise to do further metal work there this winter. The Council resolved to cease metalling between Prineeps Street and Beaconsfield. but to continue where the formatiou is hard enough at the Ponsonby end. MOUNT ALBERT. A meeting of tbe Mount Albert Borough Council was held last evening, when there were present: Tbe Mayor air M. J. Coyiei. Messrs J. E. Astley, J. Stewart, C. H. Page, J. Bridges, F. J. H. Harrison, C. W. Harris, and T. B. Clay. Supplementary Loan.—A special order was passed, subject to confirmation nt a later date, authorising the raising of a loan of £30C0, being the statutory 10 per cent extra allowed on the £30,000 road improvement loan. The Mayor explained that the Council applied to the Government a year *go for the extra money, but, as there were Bo funds available, the authorities allowed ttusa to borrow the money privately. Mr T. Rowe (Mayori and all the members of the Onehimpa, Borougi Council were present at their ord-in-ary meeting held last night. Finance.—The treasurer reported that the debit balance in the district fund is steadily Increasing, and now stands at £2,500. The increase in. the cemetery fund ou the credit side is also being maintained, and is only a little sthort of £4.000. Accounts amounting to £541 were passed for payment. Waterworks Balance Sheet.—Messrs P.rnnkfie'd and Schrmoer, Waterworks Intension Fund Commissioners, forwarded tie following Ixila-nee-Rbeet for the year ending M.a-rrh 31st, 1913:—Receipts: Balance at 31st March, 1912, £107 3/0: from Borough Council ifourth Instalment), £ir,3 4/: Interest received to 31/;j/1913. £1 14/4: total. £3.77 13. 10. (b) "That a gas lamp be placed at the junction of Captain Street and Beach Koad." (c) By Cr. Taylor: "That tie footpath along Campbell Road from Moana Avenue to Rawsbiti Road be cleared, and made suitable for pedestrians, and that a gas lamp be erected at the junction of tie above-named roads.'* Id) By Or. Electric Ligiht.—The Mayor -reported that Messrs Turnbnll and Jones had offered to give the Counciil a reliable estimate of the cost of providing an electric plant for the lighting of the borough, and, further, w-ould undertake to erect tie plant to the satisfaction of tie Council on the estimate submitted.
