'The following team has heen selected to play Wellington on August lGth at Wellington: —Goal, Edwards: third homo, Woollams; point, L. Stewart; second home, Philson; cover point, Kelly; first home, L. McCosk-ric; third man, A. Brown; wing attack, Knight, E. McCoskrie; wing defence, McClure, Oliver; centre, Pledger; emergencies, Bowring, English, Swales. The following fourteen players have been chosen to meet the A team at Victoria Park on Saturday next,: — Goal, Edwards; centre, F. Bell; point, English; third home, Swales; second home P. Stewart; cover point, Bow-ring; first home, Brinsden; third man, Wildman; wing <iefenee, Ellis, G. Stewart, Isbister; wing attack, Russell, Bragge, Heather; emergencies, Heighway, Fleming, Massey. The A team and emergencies are particularly requested to practise -at Victoria Park on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It is -understood from information received that Wellington mill have a strong team in the field. It therefore behoves our representatives to practice hard to keep the Shield in Auckland. The A and JB representative final match took place at Victoria Park on Saturday last, amid unpleasant weather conditions. The extreme softness of the ground prevented any really good exhibition of the game. The A team, however, were too strong for the B, even though the former were without the help of Philson and Knight. Oliver and McClure, on the A defence, were not quite up to the mark. Their picking up of the ball was not clean, and their passing was not sufficiently accurate, but no doubt the -wet ground had something to do with it. Kelly, who injured his leg rather severely, has now recovered, and in all probability will -be able to turn out for Auckland. It is to be regretted that G. Watters is unable to get away with the reps, for Wellington. The selectors think, h«wever, that a, fairly strong rep. team win be able to get away. R Russell, playing wing attack for the B. team, played an excellent "ami his stick handling being BTSt-class. If he only had more experience, he would undoukWJy <be ug to rewefietttativa
