DREDGING TO DEVONPORT WHARF.

«To the Editor ) Sir, — The deputation from Devonport that recently waited upon the Harbonr Board re the dredging of a channel to enable the ferry boats to ply to and from, the Devonport wharf at all stages of the tide, advanced some very cogent reasons why the Harbour Board should, at an early date, enter upon the work. As one of those present, 1 think the speakers, in claiming the attention of the Harbour Board to the urgent wants of the eastern part of the borough in improved ferry facilities, not only for residents but for the tens of thousands of visitors to the beaches during the summer months, made out a good case. The deputation wore exceedingly moderate in their request, when we look aTormd the north side of the harbour and observe what the Harbour Board has done for other less populous districts.—l am. etc., J. A. R. GASCOTONE.
