Mniacipalities possessing their own electricity snppiy are affected hy the amendment to the Municipal Corporaturns Act, introduced By the GovernAieut The measare will legalise, tor general use. the instalment plan, under which unr owner or occupier of any building is required to pay to the Council the cost of connecting tho building with any main ga-s-pipe or with any electric light main, and of laying on all necessary service pjpee, fittings and meters. This shall be parable by instalments with interest at a rate of not less than four and not more than six per cent pwr annom. Another clause extends the powers of local anthorites so as to include the Hoensinwof persons to set up and remove electric meters for whatever pnenose, and to repair, renew or otherwise interfere with flectric wires -when set np as a part of any installation, a-ad prohibiting unlicensed persons from acting.
