AUCKLAND HAKRIEKS. On Saturday afternoon the members of the above Clab held the most interesting cross-country race since tlie Club's inception. Messrs. McCallum and Crotty laid the trail from the Hotel, Lmehunga across Mongere Bridge, through the paddocks alongside the harbour, where some very trying country was traversed, with plenty of stone walls a nil fences to test the stamina of the runners, until Porn* Farm was reacjied; thence round Moiin-t Mangere and on to the Mangere-Otahuhu Road, giving tlie runners a straight finish of about one mile and a-half. The first man off was (kmrudi (.Gm). followed by Skinner iT, m 20s). Kaxnes (4m SOs), Berlin (3m IT*), A. Black (am 4C*r), MeCaJlum dm .!os>, and O. Black (scratch). Conradi kept the lead until two miles was covered, when Skinner moved up to net place, followed by Barnes, Bergin, and A. Black. At three miles and ahalf, D. Black (scratch) passed McCallmn and Barnes, on whom the pace wag beginning to tell. On the long stretch behind tbe monntain some good running took pla.ee. Skinner, in the lead, making the pace very fast until the road was reached, where the scratch man moved. Into fourth place, tmving passed Conradi, who was showing signs of distress. Skinner maintained his lead until the top of the hilU with A. Black and Bergin close behind. Coming down the Mil towards Mangere Bridge, D. Black (scratch) took the lead, with Skinner. Black and Bergin battling tor second place. Near tbe bridge, A. Brack forged ahead into second place, with Bergin a-n<J Skinner making a great race for third position. The order of finishing and times are as follow. D. Black (scratch), 1 (47m); A, Black 2 (47m 30s); A. Bergin, 3 (47m 35s>; with Skinner a few yards behind, fonrth. The distance was abont 6J miles, and tbe course very, heavy.
