REVOLVERS AND BAYONETS. FIERCE STREET RIOTING. PEPPERING THE POLICE. (By Cable.— Press Association. —Copyright.) (Received 8 a.m.) XEW YORK, August 1. Fierce rioting occurred yesterday at Oalumet, Michigan, where the copper miners are on strike. The strikers attacked the police, who were endeavouring to keep order, and severe rioting followed all over the town. After the street trouble had been settled tbe worst fighting began. The police entered a boarding-house to arrest the ringleaders of the trouble. The latter threw hot water. pepp«>- , and household utensils on to the heaus of the police from an upper storey. When this did not deter the invaders they drew revolvers and fired into them. The police then withdrew and summoned the militia, who entered the house and charged the stairways with fixed bayonets. This quickly settled the trouble, and scores of the rioters were arrested. Many were injured on both sides during the progress of the riots.
